education should be free of charge...

(dulu cikmimie pernah tulis artikel ni kat sebuah laman yang tak berapa nak dikenali la... kiranya artikel ni copy and paste yang dibenarkan...)

It has been a long time did not write anything here. I heard that demonstration has occurred in many Arab countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen... I wonder if demonstration changes to rebellion.. I mean, look at Libya and Egypt.

Let us pray for their safety and peace. By the way, I really like to complain something about educational system in our countries (mostly Muslim countries). Do you know that most of Muslim countries only spend 1.5% of their revenues for education? It was so sad to know but it was a reality. I wonder where profit of country goes to. Spend on war? Spend on entertainment? Spend on building towers and shopping complex? Or put inside 'their pockets'?

Back to the age of the Prophet (s.a.w.). I do not think that students need to pay fee for education. I think it was free. Giving money or gifts to the teachers was up to the kindness of the students and their family.

Of course teacher is a profession nowadays and a teacher also needs money to continue their lives. But government has roles in making education as a free matter. Government can pay for salary of the teachers instead of spending money on inviting celebrities to their country or build something that cannot be used after sometimes.

Just imagine, an excellent student could not further his study to university because he has no money to pay the fee. Can you see the problem? The opportunity to have a good person to contribute something to development of a country is totally a maya or fantasy. That  the reason of some countries are ruled by weak leaders is. They are not good, but they possessed the sit because of monarchy system.

I suggest to all Muslim countries to come out with a policy that education is free for all people. If this becomes a reality, I'm sure that many good leaders can be produced.
